This project is carried out at the Akdeniz University , Child Health and Pediatric, Root Cell Transplantation Unit, in the Hematology / Oncology Science Branch Policlinic. Volunteer spends time in common room for ill children, who don’t have to stay in isolated rooms. The volunteer is expected to develop ideas for activities and do the preparation. S/he will get necessary support from host organization on maximum level possible within the organization’s capacity. The volunteer should not forget that the children are out of the social life and they are waiting to recover soon. Therefore, the volunteer should be symphathetic and sensitive with them. The project requires devotion and the volunteer before accepts it should have detailed knowledge, in what kind of project area is that s/he will take part.
The volunteers don't have to be afraid, the Project takes place at hospital in a special room with couches and tables, where children during few hours treatment spend time. They are very bored, so our volunteers play with them draw, make some stuff from the paper. We will maket his Project first time as a short term and i am so happy about it- when we have break between old and new short terms the children are very bored and their parents too. There are no special skills we require, great english is not needed, also manual talents like painting – not nessessary. Just love for children, patience.

„The aim of the day centers is to socially integrate, otherwise isolated, mentally ill people, to help them to change their routines and add something extra to their lives. The aim is also to improve their quality of life, and strengthen physiological, physical and sociological well-being of the guests. Furthermore, the aim is to help the guests to increase their skills in participation in daily activities.
The volunteer's tasks will be to assist the staff in the shelters taking care of the mentally ill. He/she will be asked to be the extra staff that otherwise would not be hired, a helping hand and a caring friend.
